05/30/2010: PASSPORT TO TAIWAN: Our board
member and chief coordinator Ming-Tsung Ho filed this
brief report on the event.

"On May 30th Sunday morning, sky was clear and the
sun was high. 2010 Passport To Taiwan event was on
show at Union Square Park North.

TAANJ board arranged a 55-passenger coach bus and a
44-passenger school bus to take more than 80
members and friends for the cultural festival.

When our buses arrived by 10:30am, still more than one
and a half hours prior the formal start, the performance
stage and booth tents had already been set up. While
the staffs of Passport To Taiwan were working on
arranging goods and material for display, more and more
visitors flushed in from all around and eventually heavily
crowded this small patch by noon.

Some people couldn't resist the temperature and big
crowd began to seek shelter in shade. Some moved to
the center of the park and settled in the benches under
tree shade, while the others take advantage of nearby
cafeterias for cool air-conditioner ambient and cozy
surroundings.

Our volunteers to support 潤餅攤(lūn-piáⁿ-tàⁿ) and 粽子攤
(chàng-tàⁿ) worked hard to supply Taiwanese traditional
snack food for customers. This year we recruited more
volunteers to share the booth work. The good of more
volunteers is to get our lovely volunteers more casual
time to enjoy the fun. While some experienced and
enthusiastic volunteers complaint losing job and getting
bored.

Taiwanese snack food booths always had very good
business as before. Compared with last year (2009)
Passport To Taiwan at Union Square Park
South, Park North booth arrangement of this year
seems not as spacious
as that of last year."
